Below is a list of Kent County shelters and the appropriate contact information.
Warwick: Shelters
are located at Veterans Memorial High School, Pilgrim High School and Winman Junior High
School. They are opened based on need. To
determine if a shelter is open call the Fire Department business line
401-468-4000.
East Greenwich: The shelter is located at the Swift Gym. To determine if it’s open call the Police
Department 401-886-2244
West Warwick:
Coventry: The main shelter is located at the Senior Center, 50 Wood Street.
All schools in Coventry also act as shelters during
emergency situations. Addresses for schools are
Black Rock School, 12 Laforge Drive; Coventry High
School, 40 Reservoir Road; Hopkins Hill, 95 Johnsons
Boulevard; Western Coventry, 4588 Flat River Road;
Oakhaven, 46 Pettine Street; Tiogue School, 170 East
Shore Drive; Washington Oak, 801 Reid School House Road. To determine if the shelter is open contact Paul Sprague’s (EMA Director) office at Town Hall at 822-9169
West Greenwich: The shelters are located at various Fire Stations and
at the High School. To determine if a shelter is open, and which
shelters are open, call the Police Department at 401-397-7191 or go to

Cranston: The
main shelter in Cranston is located at the Senior Center
at 1070 Cranston Street. This center functions as
the welcome and registration center, other shelters will
open as needed. To determine if a shelter is open, and which

Police Department 401-942-2211.
